Been working on cam choices for the last few weeks, trying to determine which cam to use.... Looks like the Duntov -97 is the winner...

Pk TQ = 354@4600 RPMs Avg 302
Pk HP = 384@6600 RPMs Avg 253

What do you goes think ??? ..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

Andyrew -
283 Forged crank
5.7" rods
Trw Forged 2210 12.5CR 4.060 pistons = 310 c.i.
441 open Chamber Iron heads w/ 2.02/1.6 valves
Ends up being rated @ 10.5 CR w dynamic compression @ 6.63 with the Duntov-97
Dynamic CR w/282S is 8.08
It will run with a dual plane manifold
650-750 carb
Headers

I ran all the cams based on this scenerio on Performance Trends engine analyzer to come up with the graphs for the power band.
If I get 20% less at the wheels, I should be in good shape -
My only concern at the moment is the valve lift is .578 on the Duntov - which may be way to much... I may be better off going w/ the 282S cam where the gross valve lift is .495

I bought the shortblock and heads for $1100 -

It is not really his car. He took that pict from somewhere else.

Thom doesn't own a 914. He just likes hanging around with 914 owners. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

My alterations to the Brad Maurer kit...
The bottom long is how it came from Brad -
The top long is after I got done with them -
I added a signififcant number of holes for additional plug welds -
Including at the top to attach the sill plate -
I found that the zinc weld through primer did not do a very good job of letting me weld through -
so I used a the little peel and stick dots to keep primer from the areas that were to receive the plug welds... (bottom)
