Just found a Buggy Shop in my new neighborhood (tons of "Desert Rats" running Baja Rails where I live) and took a look around. On display where an EMPI Heavy Duty Case, next to a VW Brazil new case. The difference was stunning.. the EMPI weighed nearly twice as much, walls appeared to be at least 3/8" if not 1/2" thick compared to the 1/4" VW case.

I know the Type IV is considered the "Big Block" vs the Type I, but are these EMPI cases any good for durable/large displacement Type I's (I know, an oxymoron)...

The "beef" was definitely there..
