Any one been to a BIKER fueneral? Options

A good friend of mine from work died last Thurs. He was 47 and had a heart attack on Friday they put a stint in to help and let him go home on Wed. to recoup. He stopped by Strokers have a Coke and to say hi to his friends and up date them. His girl friend took him home and he said he was tired and was going to take a nap on the sofa. He laid down and she went to get him up to move into bed around 930 and he was gone. John was a great guy to work with and also a biker. In his obituary in the paper it listed his favorite things as riding his Big Dog m/c and double Crown and Cokes (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) He hung out at Strokers bar here in Dallas. It may sound familiar to you because that is the one Rick Fearless of Texas Hardtails TV show owns and they film at. I gues his hearse is getting a chopper escort to the grave site. This should be one of the more interesting things I have been to.

Sad thing is Ed his shops foreman is handeling all the afairs. John had no will and never updated his insurance benificary when the company computer crashed and dumped the info. He left behind a 16 year old son and his ex doesnt want anything to do with the kid (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) so Johns girl friend is watching the boy for now. All the rest of his family has died so now its just the boy with a mom that doesnt want anything to do with him (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif)

I heard 16?? Something like 168 or so accidents. Fudge that, I'd rather go riding in the country bymyself. I went to Sturgis last Jan. didn't even recognize the place without the bikes. I hope he can find a mentor, that may be the difference between his success in life. Does he know the people at the chopper/bar? Maybe they can have him come over and sweep floors and help out. Bout 20 yrs ago I was hardcore into MC RR.
One of my best friends was as well, and we competed on the same Bike and in the same classes (the inagural GSXR cup series) as well as squiding around on the streets.
During an event at the then SIR race track (now called Pacific Raceways) Jim got out of the saddle crossing the cement drag strip patches and hit the Jersey Barriers that had recently been added. Down he went at pretty high speed as that was the entrance to the front straight.
Before he was able to get up and out of the way .. he was struck by another rider accelorating hard, that couldnt get out of the way.

The Biker funeral was held at the track, the club planted a tree at the turn so that future spectators could be shaded while watching the events.
Because of that crash the "Bus Stop" chicane was added just prior to that turn to slow down the bikes and direct the away from the cement.

Well that was unusual (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif) We got there and there must have been at least 50 harlies around the place. The guys had on thier best leathers. That Rick Fearless guy was there and if you watch his show MOM was there also. She was a hoot. Folks were talking about rides they had been on and looking over each others bikes. When we went inside something was not right. Then it hit me instead of organ music softly playing it was rock and roll (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif) Then this biker preacher gets up and says his stuff and they show a video slide presentation about John and it is set to rock. Then they let guys go up front to tell stories about what they did with him. After all was done and they take him out to put in the hearse they start up the bikes and rev them up as they loaded him into the car. They had his bike loaded up in the back of one of those Harley F250 trucks and his boots straped to the seat. There was a long line of bikes folowing the hearse to the cemitary about half way there I turned off and just came home.

3 years ago. Saddest thing was the fella that died was the older brother of a grade/high school classmate of mine who had contracted cancer and succumbed only 9 months before his older brother....

Very tough seeing their parents in the same funeral home within 9 months.....

Interesting mix of 40-something guys on Harleys led in procession by bagpipes (traditional Irish family).....
