I was working on my tubing bender the other day and needed to swap out the small wire for big wire on my MIG welder and thought it would be much better if I just had 2 MIGs all setup and ready to go. I actually thought it was a reasonable idea for about 2 minutes. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)
BTW - I almost immediately thought of Mueller.

At least you stopped yourself in time. The tool bag I carry in the car is so heavy now I can barely lift it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Any time I buy something for the box at the shop I think "I could use that in the toolbag" & I buy 2. I really need a 12 step program. Norm Abrams is my Pimp... he got me convinced I NEEDED stuff that ends up taking more time to setup than is worth it....

how many times did you use that F*&*!g biscuiting machine in your woodshop for a glued joint? when a simple butt joint did the trick....

WEel , if you had 2 MIG setups. You could be working on 2 914's at one time. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) That would be a good excuse not only to get another MIG unit but another 914 too ! ! ! I'm surrounded by whores! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)
I saved myself from the second MIG but convinced myself that I NEED a gas welder rig - and a plasma cutter.
Gotta go finish the tubing bender and get my tool fix. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif)

Like that ancient Irish saying says . . . . . " He who dies with the most tools wins . . . " . (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pray.gif)

My rule is buy the tool when you need it. Guess I'm lucky not to have needed a plasma cutter! Unfortunately my skill set limits me to basic hand tools. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif)

yep, changing the spool of wire is a PITA, even more so if you are using flux core since it's so fragile.....

i ended up buying my gas welding setup due to a similar issue with only haveing the MIG....

I do need to break down and buy some cabinets for my endmills and drill bits and better organize my lathe tooling...I'm the worst when it come to organizing my tools....I could spend hours staring at the peg board trying to figure out where to put just a few tools (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I've seen Mueller's tool collection. He has so many tools, that you can never find the right tool for the job since it's always buried in the pile. I remember it took me forever to find a phillips screw driver.

You know your a tool whore when:

* Your tool box is bigger than your apartment.

* Your toothbrush is a snap-on

* You know the name of every single tool, and they
know yours.
* Your tool rep see's you more than your wife does, and that's
the way you like it.
* You spread your tools all over the floor and role around on
them naked and
Oh sorry, I guess I got carried away.

My dad had 3 of everything (2 sets at home, and one at work) and THEN retiring relatives gave him THEIR tools.....

We were sorting through his box wrenches and found at total of 13 of the 1/2" ones ranging from the flying "Proto" girl, to snap on, to craftsman, to Chiawanese....

No tool was EVER turned away.. like Mueller, I spent my childhood digging through cans and piles to find the right socket..

then there was the welding fetish..

300 AMP Linde TIG
MIG
Oxyacetelene
Sears Roebuch DC Stick
AC Lincoln Stick

and these were for just SCREWING around... a novice welder.....

i have one HUGE tub of tools and sockets that I keep in the back of my 914. John saw it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) and he thought it was funny (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

You never have enough tools, especially if your kid is a boy who can forget to put em back more often than the times you can get the 914 running to go buy more.
What is the tool used most often my 914? My guess is the 13mm wrench.

it would be nice with some of these higher end tools (TIG welders, tube benders, plasma cutters and such) that we could have a co-op so that there wouldn't be so much redundancy or just a plain lacking of having the needed or wanted tool due to it being too expensive or one cannot justify spending thousands of dollars for a tool that'll get used once every few months (mabey just my case)

i'd love to have a TIG, but pricey, sure, Mark D has one now, but that is 1.5hr away (and not the most portable item) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

My wife and my son both walk away with my tools... so there is need for duplicates....

I buy triplicates of some common wrenchs and sockets so that I know I can find at least one when I need it........

Can you have enough air tools????... die grinders are so cheap I have at least 3 with different attachments sitting on them ready to use.... I think I could use a couple more.

I was looking for one of my Snap-On screwdrivers one day...the wife figured that not only was it a good tool to open up the stain for our kitchen cabinets, it also makes a good stirring stick (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) .........needless to say, by the time I "found" it, the stuff had dried all over the handle...it's not ruined, but she could have at least grabbed one of the cheapy screwdrivers....

You have to have the tools to do the job. Having a MIG with steel on one and aluminum on the other would be kinda nice.

This is just my shop toolbox. Doesn't count the junkyard/road bag. They have locks on tool boxes to keep the tools from growing legs.
