Does anyone know if this will fit or has been attempted - installing a water cooled VW engine in a 914? Thanks!

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welcome.png) generally, anything will fit if you put enough money into making it fit...

Are you refering to flat 4 vanagon engines or Audi/VW sedan 1.8 turbos? Sonu is selling his complete 1.8 turbo conversion to switch to 2.7 twin turbo. He will even install it for a little more $. Email him (914 1.8t) if interested...

That was a great laptop. I always liked the dual bay powerbooks. I wanted one when I was in middle school but didn't have the fundage and eneded up with a 1st gen iMac. Part of me still would love one of those, such a good design.

i have six macintosh computers and three more PCs and that was trimming it down from last year. I love the apples though. G4(overclocked to 500) Ti, G3(400) Pismo, 603e(240) 3400c, and my main computer--a mac clone, starmax 604e (160)....soon to be a 400Mhz G3 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif)
as far as the pismo goes--doesnt get any better than that...9 hours of battery life from a notebook....i'll take it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) b |

3400c (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) . I loved that laptop too. It was the king of it's time and I really liked the keyboard on it. Hot swap bays and everything th 5300 wanted to be. Many that takes me back, 5300, 1400, pismo all laptops I wanted at some point in my life. Apple makes the best laptops I want them all, what for I realy don't know but I would still take them all and line them up in a row.

Same thing as the 1.8t as far as mounts - the block is the same. I was going to swap in my hopped up 2.0 16V VW from my old track rabbit and I came to my senses and went to a Subaru. It makes more power stock that the 16V in max output street form - that 500cc really helps the Suby. The much better head design helps too. And it's lighter, cheaper, more reliable and has way more perfomance parts available. Want to buy a hopped up 16V VW???? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) |

I've installed a VR6 in a 914, ugly install (cut rear trunk wall which distracts from the conversion to me)........ for the VW straight 4, only parts that you can buy to help with the conversion is the adapter plate and flywheel from Kennedy Engineering...the rest of the parts such as engine mounting brackets will all have to be fab'd by you...no big deal if you have the resources. like Steve (Porcharu) mentioned, there are better engines out there for swapping unless you just happen to have the motor already and don't mind dropping the $500 for the adapter parts |
