My car is scheduled to be painted next week. It is mostly a track and AX car that I will occasionally drive on the street.
Car will have GT flares, all fiberglass hoods, bumpers rockerpanels. I will have BBS wheels with black centers. I'm thinking of going all Olympic Blue, bumpers valances everything including the top. Somone said man thats too much blue. Now I'm thinking is that really too much? Any suggestions? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) |

Greg Braun has his 914 painted all blue including the top with orange stripes like a gulf 917.
Looks very nice on the track. I was thinking the same thing about painting my car all Phoenix Red, but I am glad I did it now. I currently have chrome bumpers but will be going to FG in the near future. will have them in black or possibly painted in aluminum like paint to recreate the illusion of having stock chrome bumpers. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) your project sounds like it is really coming along. are you having the body work done by the shop near Gary Dielacher's shop? I know a lot of his customers use that shop. |

I like the 917 paint job. It would let people in the know, know, that you're in the know you know (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)
People not in the know wouldn't know what you know but they would know the paint job looked cool |

Yes the car is across the street from Gary's. It looks real ugly right now rockers off, sail panels stripped, etc. |

I was thinking about this, but if you are in the know, you know Olympic Blue wasnt the color used for the Gulf 917's. I guess if you were not in the know then it would still be cool? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

Porbably a little to much blue in my opinion. What about the gulf paint job? It really would look sweet. Say an orange strip down the middle including a painted top and the strip flows out at the end to orange bumpers. that would be really hot if you ask me. Sure is asking to get pulled over as a street car, but so is a blue blur (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif).

Yeah, I absolutely adore the gulf 917 paint. Same with old GT40 with that color scheme.

for a track 914, i can't think of a scheme i like better. i thought of it for my car, but i don't have the right personality to pull it off on the street.
i also like the green/blue combo of Henri Pescarolo's matra's (sorry couldn't find a pic, but it's almost a dodger blue with a very bright green). saw it on goodwood, very nice for both road and track. |

wheels are black? I would paint the hood flat black as well. Would look real agressive.

I was thinking about the Gulf scheme, looks great when done right, but it is a different blue.
My car is going to get all blacked out trim and I have been thinking about a pair of black stripes down the center - carbon fiber hoods with Olympic blue painted over and the stripes left as carbon fiber. First I am feeling the need for a 2.4 like yours, only with the MFI. Oh, did I mention I need the $$$ first? Here is what it looks like now. The black makes the baby blue look way more agressive.
