I have the engine and tranny out of my car and finally have room to clean up over 30 years of dirt and oil. The rear shocks seem to work just fine and are red under all that crap. Does this color indicate what brand they might be?

Possibly older Koni Reds. Some rear Boges are a very bright orange.
Or possibly some other aftermarket FLAPS brand. No indication on shock body stamped into the metal...Boge usually stamps the metal.

I had some reddish orange ones that were "mulholland" brand. Apparently it was a FLAPS brand that is no longer made, and nothing special.
