"Look Ma, no, jack stands..."
Or tie downs, chains, ropes or any other temporary support for the trans! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) Several folks have asked how the trans was going to be mounted. Well, here's how. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) The mount plate still needs to be cleaned up a bit, and I'm going to make another set of "ears" that will fit on the other side of the chassis tube. These will be attached to the mount plate and the sides boxed in to add a bit of fore-aft support. Also have been busy cutting away more sheet metal at the rear. The two small tubes support the rear bodywork and will carry the wing loads. Progress, progress... It's starting to look like a race car... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Here are some pics. Note the lack of jackstands... Another shot. The two thin tubes are the body/wing supports.

Here's a top view. What were we saying on the other post? These things look like 914s, but there isn't much left... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

The front engine mount is a modified 911 part. It was bent back toward the engine about 1.25" and a .750 dia. tube added to triangulate the ends to the bottom of the engine mount plate. Not the best pic, but you'll get the idea...

Last one, I promise... There are a few more pics on my blog, just in case you aren't tired of this already....
A few buddies dropped by the shop today, got a group pic of their rides... of course Rod Lindsey had two 914s there (It IS his shop after all) but they were parked around the corner. Ron and Alec Mistak were there too, but had left earlier chasing burgers and milkshakes. Too bad, the black Boxster would have looked great with the teeners... Left to right: Rocky Kuenen, Richard Jones (Rpmmaxxed), Me... Attached image(s) |
