I'm bummed. Just lost an auction on ebay for one of these. Congrats to the winner if he is here. Thought that $20 over the bid would work...
Does anybody have one of these units for sale, or plans or description to build one? I don't believe Dr Evil makes them anymore... TIA Michael

I don't think they are that tuff to make. Just go to a boneyard and pickup a BMW 2002 Rear Mirror Visor. I saw the one CptTripps made for his car and it was nice looking and cheap. For $80 for that one on ebay I better get a reach around too.

I am not fully out of the biz, I am currently lookign for acceptable cores and the parts houses here in PA SUCK.

You are welcome to make them if people wish to buy them from you. No worries here so long as you expect that some time in the future I will be seeling them as well. I use them to pay for text books and parts (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) I appreciate your consideration in not jumping into making them.

I agree $80 is a bit stiff, but when you consider that they were going for $120+ a couple of years ago then it is not so bad.

I would not use a 2002 model BMW mirror as they are too small to be effective. You can use any BMW mirror that you like as it is the size of the glass and the way that it originally mounted that made it a great candidate.

I was selling my mirriors for $50-55 shipped as they take a few hours to get parts, set it up and get it right. You COULD do it your self, but it is a time vs money thing for most people and I know what a PITA they can be to do. Currently I would be selling my version for between $60-70 as I woudl have to import parts from a different supplier. Also, I would not be able to start making them until June when I am off school.

Currently my car is sporting my latest innovation in mirrors, a mirro with two adjustable, aimable halogen map lights. Can you say pimp!? It works awsome, but to mass produce is cost prohibative (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)

Inherrently nothing, but I hate them (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) I don't like the looks, and I dont like the placement. Plus, many people seem to have problems with the glued on ones falling off.

thanks, dr. evil. i'll not agressivly pursue your market, but let the best capitalist win! mine was also a pita, and i'd likely have to charge $60-70 too, unless I can find cores cheaper.

the benifits are a nice, clean install w/o the hassle and obstruction of a stick-on, really easy to remove for cleaning or the occasional "full view" run, which is really nice!

and here's what ya practically need to do to make it work on a 14': drill two holes to mount the mirror. Next drill a hole through the neck to insert a rod for the visors, or weld on two bits of metal rod for the visors.

and then take a hack saw or jig saw to remove the stock mirror mount. Creating a flat surface to mount the mirror. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

o.k., just so i get what your saying, dlo914...

instead of spending $65.00 for an upgrade that is easily reversable while sittin' in your pj's for a mirror that looks damn close to stock delivered to your door, you would;

1. find a mirror off a bmw (how much time and money)

2. drill it in 3 or 4 places. (time & effort. plus looks like it's been "drilled")

3. find a rod that fits (yea, i got those layin' all over the house)

4. or perminantly weld the pins to the mirror?!?! (a~ no welder b~ i wouldn't weld my pins to anything c~ sounds cludgy to install without the adjustment those pins provide)

5. take a WHAT to my perfectly good WHAT? (yea, i had a hangnail once. it really bugged me so i chopped off my hand...NOT)

same here mike. it looks so narrow to even drill through. i'm afraid it might affect the strength of the neck. earlier last year i had a run of another mirror i currently have on my car:

b/c i only spent like $10 and like a 30mins of sweat. Not all of us have $65 to spend on a mirror. Budget of a student (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) i may be a bad salesmen, but i did manage to sell like 100+ shirts to this club alone.
