It would be nice if we could have a few awards for the event. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)
I really liked the non-traditional 'fun' awards and classes we had at the Red Rock Classic.
Please post your ideas and comments here.

What would be some good categories?

What type of trophy would be appropriate?

Best Non-NARP - I expect we will have some Club members at the event who are not driving a teener.

At the 914 Owners Association Reunion events there was always a 'Vapor Lock' award for the person who had the worst mechanical problem on the way to or at the event. After Melba's adventure on the way to the RRC, maybe we should have a similar prize. A cactus in some fashion would be a good troply.

Something like the Frank Sinatra / I did it my way class we used at the RRC. Most creative / unusual modification.

Best of Show - self explanatory.

Long Distance.

Most Original.

Fewest stock parts remaining.

I like your list John. Here's my adaptation of it. I think we're going to have a fairly small group so we should probably keep the list short.

Vapor Lock Award
For the worst mechanical problem on the way to the event or for the most courage in taking the poor thing on the road in the face of very high odds that it would have a problem. This sort of incorporates the "brass balls" award from WCC & RRC for having the most guts in driving your ride to the event.

I Did it My Way
For the most unique personalization or a 914 and/or the least number of stock parts remaining.

Best of Show
The best craftsmanship or the car that best captures "teener spirit". Hmmm... maybe it we should call it "Smells Like Teener Spirit"?

Longest Distance
For the person who drove the longest distance in a 914 to get there (not just who came the longest distance or drove the longest in a non-NARP)

What do you think gang? I'm sure Brian needs a decision soon. (Thanks Brian!)

Sounds good Ernie. Your list is great. I would also like to add 1 more. I know there will be a few people at the event without a 914. We want to encourage everyone to drive their teener, if possible. Even more so, we want them to show up, regardless.
I think an award for the Best Non NARP would be appropriate. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)
Do these 5 classes sound OK to everyone? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

Thanks John - I agree. I meant to include that one, but forgot! (Mental lapse from hanging around with my grandkids!)

Ok, Brian. Use my list and add Best Non-NARP and that's the list of awards.

What do you think of a name change for the Vapor Lock Award.
#1 - that name has been used before.
#2 - a different name might express a better image.

How about the Pioneer Spirit ?
Pressing ahead in the face of adversity.
The courage to start the trip in the first place.
Displaying a tremendous sense of adventure.

Best of Show
Long Distance
Best Non-NARP
Pioneer Spirit
I Did It My Way / Frank Sinatra

*the Pioneer Spirt and Frank Sinatra awards may seem similar. Look at the PS award more for the driver and the FS for the car. By having somewhat ambiguious titles we can modify the interpretation to fit the occasion.

Pioneer Spirit sounds good to me. I didn't realize that Vapor Lock had been used.

I'll take "I Did it My Way" and leave Frank out of it. It's actually Paul Anka's song anyway.
