So, one of my current customers trannies had a wierd affliction. When I took it apart to inspect it I noticed that one of the synchro sleeves was COMPLETELY worn down to the nubs. Theat in it self is not odd, what is odd is that the adjacent dog teeth were just fine (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif) Check it out:

The slider is made out of balsa wood?

The sync band in the 3rd shot is crapped, eh?

Weird.

Hey Herb,
the synch bands for both were shot in patches only and replaced along with the ring, but all I can sermise is that someone went in and changed the gear/dog teeth and left the sleeve alone. For the complete flattening if the sleeve it would have to be done by the teeth as the synchro band does not extend out far enough for it to be able to wear out the whole band, just the inner part.
