The funky looking knuckle on the steering shaft (just as it changes angle and goes through the bulkhead) is making a bump-bump as is turn right and left. If I jiggle the joint, it shows some slop and recreats the bump noise. Can these things wear out, and if so, where can I get another one?
Thanks

The universal joints can wear out or sometimes bind up. Sometimes the joint gets loose on the splined shaft causeing a knocking noise. Crank down good on the pinch bolt and see if the problem goes away. Most likely I have a used one.

It seems like the top on wears out but the bottom one does not due to the angle. These joints are NLA but I have many spares if you need one. I am going to try a set of later 911 ones when I put my car together. They seem to be a little larger and I don't know what the clearence issues will be.

Thanks guys.
It is the bottom one that is worn.
Ed, I tried socking it down tight already.
No change.
Would you please check to see if you have an extra?
PM me and I'll try to get it from you.
Thanks
