Also, remember that lessons aren't a 1 shot deal. I think lots of people take six lessons and then that's it. You can go to the driving range and watch all the duffers with poor swings that think they know how to play golf.
To start I'd suggest the group lesson thing. Then after that I'd get some private lessons - maybe 1 lesson every two or three weeks for 3 or 4 months. You want to have enough time for practicing on your own between lessons. Golf is a lot of fun when you know how to hit the ball and aren't chasing it in the weeds constantly. |

As an avid golfer and a 7 handicap I can tell you that lessons and club fitting are invaluable.
When you speak of clubs think of it this way; would you wear shoes that don't fit just because they are inexpensive? I think the answer is no. Therefore why buy off the rack clubs that do not fit? Ill fitted clubs make the game harder and it hard enough. Find a golf pro, take lessons, get fitted, and enjoy a great game for a life time. T |

One of the new great innovations is the hybrid club set- lower number clubs are fairway metal/woods. They are much more user friendly for us hackers, and do have lessions and get fitted clubs.
