speedo is behaving an a strange manner. bouncing between 60-120mph while cruising aroung 3000-3250rpm in 5th gear. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

Cable is my guess. It seems they sometimes make the speedo reading bounce all around just before they break.... And the cable is cheaper than the angle drive.

Replace the cable first. Thats what I did. When that didn't work I got the Gear.

Cable. Its winding up and releasing.
Use a drill with a flat blade screw driver tip in it and remove the cable from the angle drive... spin it with the drill and have somebody watch the speedo needle. You might be able to "feel" the bind in the cable by just turning it with a screw driver. When you have it disconnected from the angle drive.. grab the tab hanging out and see if you can turn it back and forth (a lot) this means it is toast. Most of them have very little gear slop. B |
