I used a can of Brakleen for mine. It was pretty clean when I installed it about 6 months ago for testing, then day one the trans overflow puked fluid all over it, so in one day and about 7 laps at the track, the trans was damn near black again.

I cleaned it about a week ago. Word of caution - use some eye protection. I wasn't and right about the end of the task, one of those "nooks" spit the brakleen right back into my left eye (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) not good, but I had a diet coke nearby so I started flushing immediately until I could make it to the sink. I am a dumbass sometimes (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif) Diet coke fizzes and stings a bit, but doesn't blind ya (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Sorry I don't have a good before shot, but suffice it to say that 10 minutes and a can of Brakleen works wonders.

edit - whoa, forgot to resize, here is resized image. Oh yeah, and I agree with the Cap'n on the blasting. I know it has been done, but it is that one time that one of those little pieces is missed in cleanup and wipes a gear out. I knew a place that would blast engine blocks. A couple engines failed and an inspection of the oil pump would show a particle or two that got trapped in "one of those places you don't see"
