yeah they diluted the name when ALL 911s in 84 ....didn't help that they were fat pigs and had valve guide issues....

BTW...."I" made the Carrerror scripts for Joe..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif)

Some of my stuff will be given away or silent auctioned at the WCC 06....

John.....any dates and finish history behind the plates?

1950 # 197 - not issued to a competitor.
1951 #2 - This plate was on the same 'City of Roses' Olds Rocket 88 that was driven to victory by Hershel McGriff the 1st year of the race. In '51 Bud Sennett did not repeat and was out of the race after the 3rd day.
1952 #20 - Luigi Chinetti finished in 3rd place with his Ferrari behind a team of MB Gull Wings.
1953 #45 - Luigi Chinetti did not do as well with a Ferrari this year. He did not finish the event due to mechanical problems.
1954 #20 - This plate was on the same Ferrari that Chinetti drove the previous year. Driver Phil Hill and co-driver Richie Ginther ended up in 2nd plate for the final Carrera Mexico road race.
1954 #229 - This plate was from an Alfa. After the race it was probably cut down and repinted by a Mexican National and used on a normal passenger car or truck to avoid paying registration fees at the DMV.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) Nice plates John! The 1975 Carrera was the first 911 wide body imported into the Unites States as a consumers vehicle. I believe that were slightly less the 400 imported. I have the factory Certificate of Authenticity on the my car pictured. It has slightly less than 100,000 on the machine which sports the stock leather interior and a sun roof. They were know to run very hot with termal reactors to defeat the smog issues in 1975, which at that time even GM, Ford and others were doing. Not a rocketship( 2.7 CIS) in the grunt of the flat six as we have come to know, fantastic ride and handling. This car is stock with the exception of the fiberglass front and rear bumpers I bought from our friend Dave B. at TRE. In that front grille I have the same MEGA B&B front oil cooler the I have in my 914-6. Dave B. is perhaps more knowlege on these early 911 Carrera's and RSR's, RS's, 1974 IROC's, and the 3.0 RSR's than anyone I know.

I have a 75 euro carrera, that I had shipped in a few years ago. It has the 2.7 with MFI, the vin is 911560xxxx the fifth number 6 indicates a Euro Carrera. Gus Pfister at Pacific Fuel Injection checked all the numbers ,even on the fuel injection pump. I really love the car. Sorta a pain to get it registered here, but was worth the trouble (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving-girl.gif)

That euro Carrera is no sheep in wolf's clothing like its US counterpart.

Dan, I've got a 74 Euro Carrera race car that I'm trying to trace it's history. Do you think your friend Dave could be of assistance?
