will incorrect jetting of webers make my 1.7 run hot and ping after 10mins of runing ,by the way the timing is correct. the webers are new the guy that sold it to me put them on just beforei got the car. tom444..

Hi,

Yes a lean running condition will make your engine run hot.

A 009 distributor does not have the right advance curve for a type 4 motor, sorry to say.

If you do a search here, you will see that many people will tell you to get rid of the 009 distributor.

44mm webers are to large for the 1.7..

They can work, but you will need small venturis, and small jets to make it right.

You need to look at the whole system. tuning a car with the wrong distributor and the carbs not set up right is impossible.

You need to know the following.
Carbs
main jet size
f tube size
venturi size
idle jet size.

On the dizzy, and 050 will be alot easier to tune correctly, ideally a mallory or other, properly set up will be the best.

Pinging is due to the ignition system , not the carbs...
