So, got my trick gears into my trans, loaded
the cluster into the case....tried putting on the tail housing....and it won't go....Sumbitch, the reverse gear is incompatible with the B gear. Where TF does one find one that is?....God only knows. Otto's, Powerhouse, Brad Mayeur? I guess I *really* don't need reverse..right..careful planning is sure to get me wrapped around the axle (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) I'll go write some email while youz guys (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/av-943.gif) Have a nice time.....shit. |

Sorry about the bummer, JP.
I've given up on my search for a "C" or a "D" first gear set. I learned that the new gears aren't any stronger, just a differant ratio. If I was to use it like I had planned ( (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif) ), It would break anyway. I'll either get stock first repaired or not... KT |

Trekkor,
I don't understand.. how did you have it planned that required more strength.. they are strong enough for smaller bore motors... (200hp) brant |

Downshifting into "C" or "D" from second at 40 mph at an A/X and winding it back up to 7300 RPM's over and over... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif)
I'll just settle for second. KT |

Howard:
Thanks. The site boots you into Power Hau$e ....but asking is free (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Trekor: It would take a special section of corners to cause me to downshift into 1st......but *my* trans will do it (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Mostly, I will use it for start sections. Around here, many (50%?) start sections were too fast for 1st, but too slow for 2nd. Short shifting to 2nd costs time and can often cause the motor to fall off the bump a bit futher on in the section......not only that, rear steer in the tight stuff is easier in 1st (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

JP,
dang... what did you do on the diff go back to an open? Dang... I wish Paul had those things in! Trekkor, I'm going with an F first, and will be using it often while downshifting from 2nd... only on a track and not on an autox, but nearly the same thing. my builder has 205hp at the rear wheels in a torquey -4 on his similar tranny for 3 or is it 5 years now. I'm not too worried about it below 200hp. brant |

Damn JP that's too bad. Why not drive down and see Gary Emory. That's not too far from you. He's got all kinds of bins of parts. If he let's you just poke around you might find something. It truely would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I love looking through that place. Of course he probably would know what it's worth too. You never know.

Trekkor, yep... its kinda custom... F,J,O,S,V should be topped out at 118@7,000; 124@7300 but... very tight ratios and all 5 gears will be useable! (may not be so good for those standing starts you autox guys do) JP are you adding the diff later or did you go with something else? brant |
