Damn JP that's too bad. Why not drive down and see Gary Emory. That's not too far from you. He's got all kinds of bins of parts. If he let's you just poke around you might find something. It truely would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I love looking through that place. Of course he probably would know what it's worth too. You never know.

Dave

i also doubt he would break up a 3 gear set.....

he may sell you the whole set tho (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chairfall.gif)

BRANT, so you cut off the F off 2nd and welded it to a first gear center? very cool....

basically...
except I don't believe its welded back on to a center.
I think its machined/splined in its center.

and the main shaft is machined also so as to be similar to a 904

(takes a sacrificial main shaft to do the job)

now If I could just get a freakin Diff for this box, it could be reassembled.... I hope the diffs are available soon.

I do like the welded diff and I still have one in the current A, F, K/L, S, X box that is installed in the car. And the way things are going, it seams I will get to enjoy this welded diff longer than expected.

but I wanted to try something different and after a bunch of research (phone calls to Paul Guard and actual back to back track testing from my builder) I decided to go with a TB diff for the new box.

I wouldn't even be building a new box, except my old box has the -4cylinder gears and I'm getting killed with that gearing on the -6.

so as long as we are building a new box we decided to try something different for the diff. Yep... waiting on the guard TB. (and starting to fear that I will never get it)
