I looked at this '74 2.0 FI original owner car today. It's got some nice and not so nice about it. 320,000 with professional engine rebuilds approx every 100k. Last one done about 20k ago. Very presentable Olympic Blue paint with no dents or dings. Was in a wreck in 1977 involving the left front. The fender was poorly aligned and never correctly repositioned - pic to follow. No rust I could detect although I did not get a good look at the longs. Hell hole and battery tray look fine. Rust repair was done to the firewall about three years ago and engine bay was repainted at that time. Both trunks look fine, repainted 3 yrs ago also. Dash is cracked in a few spots and the drivers seat needs to be redone (he has the upholstery). I'd say the interior is a 7. It runs strong although is starts very rich and bogs a bit from the line. Shifts fine in all gears. Bilsteins all around, one of the Mahles has some 'rash' (not curb) in the main body. Windshield will be professionally replaced by shop which has done much of the major refurbishing of this car over the years.

I'd like to get opinions of it's value, I've got an idea of what I think, but I'd like to hear other feedback. Thanks.

With 20K engine, anything less than $5000 is a steal.

Yeah, it's been a DD for more than 20 years around here. Owner also has a '99 Boxster S and an '06 Elise - loves those mid-engine cars.

Nothing wrong with the fender...it's looks like the front was tapped and the hood is warped- bowed. Typical when the car was hit in the front. DH

Wish it was that simple. The hood may be slightly bowed, but the fender is definitely mis-aligned. It also effects the fender to door alignment and from the front you can see it's about 3/16" out. Wouldn't be such a problem if the paint weren't so nice. Hard to put a $ amount on this defect from a value standpoint.

Hey, nice color !

This has all the right stuff, year/motor. If it wasn't for the suspicious bending in the front (which may be nothing), it should fetch 6K, a little TLC and it would have been more. The milage is a sticking point for me...
I was interested in your post because my OBlue 74 is going on the market, How much is he asking?

Good luck

I appreciate the feedback. He hasn't really named a price yet, he's looking for an offer. He knows $7500 is too high and $2500 is too low; I'm sure he'd sell for 6. Question is, will he take 4? The mileage thing is interesting; for him it's a badge of honor, for a buyer it's a big ?. He's kept it up well, it's always been professionally maintained and garaged. I drove it for about 15 miles on a variety of roads - twisties, neighborhood, freeway - no vibrations and tracks straight, altho there's a slight play in the steering. Prolly a symtom of the mileage.

The REAL answer to your question is: "How much am I, or someone else, willing to pay for it?". The Cap'n
