I am down with that. I have a Matchbox 914 for him the next time we go.

Fun time for all. Well except for Mark, who had to use a AAA flatbed to get home. Better luck next next time; look forward to meeting you.

Garrett was obviously enjoying the visit. He was diagnosed with MS in the early 90's and is confined to his bed and a wheelchair. MS is a disease that ravages the body but leaves the mind sharp and clear. It has definitely left his sense of humor intact. He has a long history with Porsches, having owned a large number of 356s and even done some concours judging in that arena. He is devoted to 914s and has recently acquired a survivor '74 2.0 even though he can't drive it.

The car is remarkable: original Olympic Blue paint with a deep rich shine and no breaks in the finish; fully loaded with f & r sways, chrome bumpers, OG tool kit, dealer license plate frame, etc. The car is tucked away in a small garage, so it wasn't possible to take the photos the car deserves.

Note the original license plate frame. The Santa Clara, CA dealership is now known as Sunset Creek Porsche.

Attached Image

Body is impressively straight with only a few door dings, etc. Dan noticed that the trunk lid was amazingly flat.

Attached Image

Always nice to see 4 lug Fuchs with their factory finish.

I agree with Dan that we need to organize a working BBQ to help sort out some driveability and storage related issues so that Garrett can ride in it. He's got a great yard to park a bunch of teeners and I'm sure he would really enjoy the group.

Sounds like a great time had by all. I'm bummed I couldn't make it. Garrett sounds like a heck of a guy with a really nice car. I'd definitely be up for a work party/BBQ in the future. Please advertise the next get-together at Garrett's 3-4 days out so folks (like me) can make plans to be there.

We'll have plenty of notice next time Nate. This started as a visit I was making on a 4 year old promise which coincidentally dovetailed with a spur of the moment Tuesday Teener gathering. For a while it looked like it was going to be a bit of a cluster fuch with traffic delays, tranny rescue missions, etc. In the end it became an evening of meeting new friends, munching on great pizza and inspecting a fascinating car. Can't ask for much more on short notice.

I talked to Garret last night by phone. Seems like a very nice guy who is extremely excited to get this car up and running. I told him I would be happy to help and it looks like I will be getting his fuel lines in order next week. Once that is done it should be a few minor things and it will be all sorted. Maybe June 1st we should plan on a Teener Tuesday BBQ were we get him in there and take him for a spin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

That's great, Jon. I'd be in for that. Instead of a BBQ, we could also just order take out pizza from Portofino which is next door to their house and very good grub as Nord, Dan, Michelle, Troy and I can verify. Chris and Kiernan blew their chance at some tasty grub, but they did make it over to Garrett's. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif)

Well, tried to get to the meeting. Had some trans problems in Lynnwood. Thank you to all that took time to check out my trans "issue". I owe you! Got the car home tonight via flat bed. I will start poking around to see what I can find on Wednesday after work. I will post pictures right away. It was great to have the cavalry called in. Best- Mark

72 is tail shift or side shift? I have an extra tail shift from a 1970 car that I am not using. I drove the car and know that the transmission works through 3rd (car had very questionable brakes, didn't drive too far). I would sell it for $75 if you need it.

Yeah, I can see a drive with Garrett riding shotgun with an escort of 914s - more the merrier. We need to find a nice route close by. There used to be nice stretches north of his place but that was years ago and it's probably filled in a lot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Actually, much of that stretch of road has been re-paved over the last couple of years. There could be a couple of stages to drive. One ending around Mukeltio Speedway if Garett felt that was enough for one trip. Or stretch it out a little more and head down to the beach.

It's all slower backroad stuff anyway and pretty easy drive. Even in traffic, not too many travel it (slow speed limits).

we can run up olympic view to muk speedway down to muk and along muk bvd up toward everett then circle around back to edmonds.... all 35-45 mph roads.

Garrets wheel chair is pretty big. i don't know if he has a small light weight one for trips or not. but mark can ask him about that stuff right mark?!

Yeah, we'd have to have a support vehicle for the chair if we want to stop on the cruise. I'll check with Garrett and Patricia about their preferences.

Garrett called me yesterday to thank us for the good time we brought him on Tuesday. When I asked him about the logistics of a drive he indicated that it would be best to start and end at his place without a food stop along the way. He doesn't have a BBQ, so it sounds like the best thing would be to cruise and then order pizza. The June 1st date sounds good to him, but he'll check with Patricia also.

So, we're tentatively on for Tues., June 1 in Edmonds.

Is that enough warning Nate? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)
