THats not a bad price considering gas prices. I had a 911 move from the east coast to Wisconsin and it was about $600. That was back when gas was under $2. So $800 sounds decent.

U may also want to check out a website called Uship. You post your item and people bid on it. I havent tried it but it looks like something that might work good.

Cheap flight out to CA and drive back..... 2065 miles at 30 mpg = 69 gals @ $3 per = $210 @ 25 mpg = $250

Oh and 4 days driving time @ 8 hrs per day from LA

$800 is likely the bottom of the market. Kiwi's Karriers is the broker I've used a few times, and they charge about $1K for that distance.
