I filled up my tow vehicle with gas last night at midnite. Go to bed. Get up at 5am to finish loading the car with my food and water for a PCA AX. I walk out to the car and notice this.....

I look below the steering column and the perps tried hot wiring the ignition...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

They got so upset with it that they tore out the ignition wiring and all of the steering column brackets....what a effin mess under there.

Since 5am the morning I have:

1. Filed a police report and have a case number assigned. I know I won't have any luck witht he perps, but I need the case number for insurance.

2. Called my insurance company. Claim number is assigned and I have an adjuster assigned.

3. Had the Suburban towed to the dealership where I bought the car and have had serviced since day one. I had to manually disconnect the linkage to tranny get the car out of park.

Still to do today:

4. Go to the local trailer supply to get more wheel locks and trailer safety devices.

5. I didn't have an alarm on the car other than the stock horn warning that goes off for reasons unkown to me. I'll start another thread about what alarm to get.

Trying not to be depressed but I'm a little paranoid about someone casing my rig......

And did I mention that I'm pretty PISSED OFF! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)

And more of the good news...I have to borrow or rent a tow vehicle with a 2" receiver and 7 wire plug to tow my car to the Thunderhill Time Trial next weekend, which I've already paid for.

Time estimate from adjuster is Mon through Thurs next week to do the field review and then repairs can begin...truck should be gone 2 to 3 weeks.

And the Porsche run of luck continues...now it's spilled over onto my Chevy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

Geez.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Sorry to hear about your problem dude. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Some street thug ass hole who is too lazy to get a job has caused you a big time expensive head ache. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif) If they ever catch him the lousy thing is that our tax dollars will be used to hire some low life attorney to defend " his rights ". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) While your rights are totally forgotten and the pain and anguish that were perpetrated against you by that asshole will not be addressed in court. Sorry to hear the Bill. My van was vandalized right in front of my house. We moved to this neighborhood because we thought it had less crime. Dam thieves! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

BTW, I'm planning on getting the Clifford MATRIX RSX 3.5 for neo914 but have no experience with it.

It's a royal pain going through this. The issue is that obviously they got into the truck easily with a screwdriver. And when they closed the car door, the car was locked. My remote still opened and closed the door locks.

I spend several hours in the truck towing to events. We have (had) navigation in it and I like it. We will go back in with a new unit. But how do I keep the same numbnuts from coming back? This starts a whole spiral of events. Do I get a camera outside of my house? I normally only park my rig in front of the house the night before an event. I store the trailer in a fenced in yard out of sight.

Do I put a fancy high dollar alarm on the truck? Do I figure a way to tie down the trailer (take the wheels off overnight?)....

I mean...this sucks....

OMG! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

That's a royal PITA!

It amazes me that it would be so easy to break in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Yeah, train your dog to sleep in the truck cab. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

An alarm system with an ignition disable is probably the way to go. Shitty.

That's terrible. Hopefully you get a good deal with your insurance.

Someone stuck a screwdriver or something under the lock in my parents '92 GMC Sierra door handle... it has similar door handles/locks. As far as we know nothing was stolen but we don't keep anything valuable in there anyway. Whoever was breaking in probably was scared away by some passer-by. I'll take a pic later.

That royaly sucks......the sad part is that the thiefs know you'll get the stero/GPS replaced and usually with a better unit...they might be tempted to come back.

That really sucks, it's pretty easy to get lulled into thinking the area you live in is safe because the neighborhood is nice. Campbell overall is a pretty decent place - but the bad part (the cheap apparments with the gangbangers and drugies) is close enough to me (and probably Bill) to need to worry about. I was thinking a replacing the flakey cd changer in my truck with something nice but I don't want to be a theft target.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the offer of your vehicle, but within minutes of my first post another member here was washing their suburban and loaning it to me for next weeks Time Trial. I'm covered for the event!

This board is a good place. Thanks to all for the postings, e-mail's and PM's! They are appreciated.

Awh man. That sucks royally. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif)
Glad they were not able to get the truck started. Happy to hear Fritz is OK.

It always makes me a little nervous when I have everything loaded the night before a track event. I feel more vunerable with my race gear in front of my own house than I do at a strange track when I am surrounded by people who could actually use the stuff.
