was the spare always the steel version of each year or did it match the fuchs, mahles etc.?

I can only answer for my '75 which came with 5 Mahles. Not sure about the rest.

The Fuchs took longer lug bolts than the steel wheels. My guess is that you got five Fuchs or five steelies.

Before I converted to 5-lugs Fuchs...my car was equipped with 914-4 Fuchs. Spare was also a Fuch.

Spare on my '74 2.0L is a Fuchs like the other 4.
