I normally try to save pics as Jpegs so I can use them as avitars. For some reason, all the pics get saved as BMP's, and I cannot use them as avitars, even tho it says I can. I HATE having to edit, and re-save all the pics as Jpegs. Whats the deal? Everytime I try to use a BMP as an avitar, it gets timed out. To use a BMP, do I have to make it smaller or what?

jpgs are compressed, bmps are not. jpg set to a 10(Photoshop) or 75% for others is the best compromise for you on size/quality.

i don't think BMPs work in web browsers. they might in IE, but BMP is a MickySoft file format ...

JPG or GIF is the format of choice for web-stuff.

JPG = Photo
GIF = line art, drawings, text etc.

so, who's saving your pictures as BMP? your camera?

Andy

I've seen this a few times, but its been a while.
What browser(and version) and OS?

When you right click on the picture and chose "Save Picture As...", what options do you have in the File Type drop down list?
