Too rich=

Blown MPS
Bad CHT
Leaking Cold start valve
Fuel pressure regulator hooked up backwards or Pinched return resulting in really high fuel pressure.

or mis matched Djet parts like wrong MPS (off a 73 2.0l in a 1.7).

you will have costs and frustration with carbs that would only add to the angst, ask me how i know! in the end, the sds (or maybe jake's setup) sounds like the better choice when you build your engine up.

my granny would say "keep your pecker up".
(she was kind of a sassy white haired gal with a dry martini perminantly attached to her jewel encrusted fingers.)
