I have a worn out ignition switch tumber for my '73 914 2.0L.
I was able to find a VW part to replace the whole ignition lock/swich assemble. It work great, but who wants to carry around a VW key! The VW key pattern is very different from the porsche. So I tried to switch back to the Porsche key cylinder. The cylinder is worn so badly several of the tumblers stick up when the key is insterted. This worked OK in the old lock because it was so worn. I could just file them down and move on, but I want to do the job right. I could not use the tumblers from the VW part, they were thicker. Any one know of a source for the ingition key cylinder? I noticed my '98 911 has the same key pattern, any chance the cylenders are the same? |
