Ok...
awards are a big item left to do. no way we can top Joe's efforts last year. but hopefully we can put together something decent and easy. I know that brian and greg and others have talked about using used parts and cleaning them up or repainting them as needed to make nice awards. we could pretty affordably get some engraved plaque's too so does anyone have good ideas about common parts that would match award themes....? brant |

Creativity award?
Example, the most creative or the greatest use of Duct /electrical tape? Should have a few in the group for that... We can buy a role of dcut tape or electrical tape and paint it gold... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I'm a thinkin... (hope I don't get a headache again)
there must be something funny that we can relate to a 914: -golden jack stand? (could be given to the narp) or should that be "rusty jack stand" -broken parts for sad luck, or longest drive? -repeat the golden wheelbarrow, with some delapitate part... or perhaps some really rusty part. stuff like that Greg, you had some good awards title idea's in the other thread. can you add them to this thread? brant |

viagra award - something for the old guys to aspire to (there will be a few of them there)
transsexual award - best 914 conversion best narp 914 - anything but a 914 golden wheelbarrow - for best diamond in the rough best in show "hope they make it home award" - we can use the duct tape for that one. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) i don't think we want more than 5 or 6 awards this year. |

I'm gonna be taking charge in this relm and I agree with Greg to limit to five awards.
I think the Golden Wheelbarrow needs to make a comback. I also think we need some realistic non goofy catagories. I'm thinking about interjecting my own Catagory for Cleanest car as well, does not have to be the nicest car, just the cleanest, and No I will not win. 1. Golden Wheelbarrow 2. Ferg's Concour Weenie Award 3. Longest Drive 4. Best NARP 5. Best in Show What say the group? Also, I'm in charge of the actual trophies, and I have some thoughts about getting the porcelin 914 models from CAMP 914 but at 30 a piece not exactly cheep, I'm open to non traditional ideas maybe even things the winners could use ie: Golden wheelbarrow, AAA membership, Concour Weenie=cleaning supplies ect what do you guys think. i like the idea of an award for the best conversion. I think there will be quite a few there. (subies and 6's)
best in show and concourse kind of overlap (IMO) It would be best to keep the cost of awards as low as possible, so sprucing up old parts might be our best option. What car will you be entering this year? |

The reason I didn't have a best conversion catagory is in Portland Vegasracer sweeped, best six, best ? and Best in show... three awards, Since he's a given on attending I thought it would be nice to sort of level the playing field. Not saying he's a shoe in but most likely a conversion or orig six will take Best in show (peoples choice) anyway...
the concour weenie award can be changed so I'm open to other ideas. I need to let camp know if we want the porcelin models, i'm guessing No??? Ferg |

Plus if the V8 car (mark) comes from CO, then that would get my vote. And don't forget Wils car should be done by then. your call. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) thanks for helping out. Ferg,
I have a stock (factory) jack that I will donate for a trophy. I can clean it up and paint it gold (suggested color?) Let me know what your address is, and once it's ready couple of weeks, I can arrange to have it sent to ya... Brian |

I like Ferg's ideas. Try to develop categories that will foster some sort of competition. It's no fun when you know who is going to win.
Stay on the cheap and go with old parts. Did someone say Kevin? |

Something important that we did last year (and not copied in Portland):
ONE award per person. If someone takes more than one class, they get the highest class, but the second place in the other class(es) wins (without announcing that they were second). I'm busy, but I will help. Making the awards was fun. We really should have awards that approximate: Best in show Best original /6 Best conversion Best /4 Longest driven (you can't get 2nd in this, so two awards are possible for this person) Worst in show (always given in a friendly manner) I was fortunate to take home "best engineered" last year, so that's another one consideration. |

I agree that no one person should win more than one award.
Five classes sounds like a good number to work with. I really like having creative custom awards to fit the classes. Best of Show - Peoples Choice: you gotta have this award Golden Wheelbarrow: another 'must have' for the RRC Long Distance: need I say more Best Non-NARP: it is good to encourage everyone to attend, 914 or not #5 - ??? QUOTE Try to develop categories that will foster some sort of competition How about Debutant Debut or something like that. Barmitzfa, Cortillion, Coming Out, Best 'New' Teener . . . you get the idea. There should be several very nice 914's making their first apperance at the RRC. (Turtle Girls, Mike's new 3.2, Waide, Gint, whatever Ferg buys, Keith's WRX, who knows what LvSteveH will own that week, Aaron, Slitzz Sixx, and more) Any new (since the last RRC) purchase / owner / fresh conversion / restoration would be eligible. It is always good to see the RS, Beauty, Linda's, Toast, Elvira, Strat Player's, and all the others. In one of the threads in The Garage someone mentioned how all the cars keep getting better and better at the events. This is true. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I think we should encourage and reward the people who feed our passion and bring out 'new' 914's. |

The Awards. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
Best of Show - Something nice. Does someone make wheel clocks? Golden Wheelbarrow - The painted jack would work for this. Long Distance - An engraved / painted gas cap would be perfect. (they would see it everytime they had to fill up) Best Non NARP - Anything with a Porsche crest on it. Best Debut - I've got a vintage German Pokale (trophy) I will donate. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif) We could get a new plaque engraved and glue it on. Can we get Pelican to throw in a gift certificate? |

John I like your thinking. Let's go with those catagories. and maybe add Best 4 and Best 6 if we want, that would bring the total to 7.
Joe, I will be calling you on award making. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/KMA.gif) Ferg |

Ferg, In addition to the jack stand, I also have an extra gas cap.... I will see if I can have it engraved, let me know whaat specificaly you want it to say, and I will take care of it, or I can send it to you via mail. I just need your addy....
Any specific color you want the jack and cap painted? Maybe I should just clean the cap real good and leave the color alone? Brian |

Anything new on the trophies? I have a jack stand that can be donated, but I need to know who to send it to.
Anything I can do to help? |

Joe's graciously offered to do them again this year, we have been talking. I'll pm him and ask if he needs anything. I think he has it handled, but i'll let you know if that changes.
