QUOTE(Bleyseng @ Oct 17 2003, 09:55 PM) What is this?? Geoff Looks like a dried up old leather key chain. My father has a 72 911 targa sport-o-matic. Strange car to drive; there is nothing sporty about it. Hard to get used to, if you touch the shifter even slightly the clutch disengages. At a stoplight you leave the car in 2nd gear with your foot on the brake just like an automatic. There is no 5th gear they are 4 speed transmissions. |

I remember years ago a guy wrote into Road & Track and said he has a 914-6 Sportamatic. R&T did some research and said that Porsche only made a few and it was pretty rare.
Also, I don't see front side markers in the photo. Paul |

I was going to say that it looks like it has Right, Front end damage.
Doesn't the right front wheel look askew? |

Can't be too many blue sportomatic 914's in Europe doesn't have French taillights. has body-color rocker panels, not factory AFAIK so who knows on the rest. no sidemarker lights is correct for France as well as Germany (other European countries i donno - Italy required them IIRC but of course they were clear ...) last number i heard on 914.6 Sportos was 25. i've only seen one in person and it was before i knew all the subtleties. my question: did 914.6 Sportos get aluminum S brakes like the 911 cars ? |

Actually the top photo car does appear to have French taillights. Just like Euros but the backup lights are amber. Hard to tell for sure at that angle.

Hard to tell for sure at that angle. for some reason i thought French were all amber, must just be faulty memory - been a while since i've seen a set. thanks for setting the record straight. (anybody got a set of French taillight lenses ? i once had a set within my grasp but i couldn't get the cash together in time - poverty sucks ...) |

Couple additional things: Even though the dash pic isn't very well
focused, it looks like the thing under the key is purposely stuck in the dash to keep your keys and things from scraping the dash. Mine is kinda worn there, this guy looks to be keeping things in -very- original condition. Also, there is no fog light switch, but there are foglights (or yellow driving lights?) in the front; what's up with that? |
