OT: sort of - Porsche related, Should I keep this car? Options

Realastically, the car isn't worth much and even though it's a neat 924, it won't ever be worth much. I won't update the brakes, but I will have the hubs/rotors machined to Porsche 5 bolt pattern and bolt on some nice wide 944 rims to fill out the fenders.

We do plan on painting it, but not spending much on that.

OH MY GOD!!! You have discovered the unbelievably rare and famous "ONE OF ONE" Prototypical Geneva Porsche Show Car of the 1976 World Of Cars Autorasma, upon which Porsche hung all of their Corporate hopes and dreams for the future!!! It was built especially for the great grand nephew of Dr. Porsche himself, little Fairy Feery Porsche (or was that Ferry Fairy Porsche??? It's so hard to keep all of the relatives "straight"), and was designed to entice the Royalty of Europe to once again enoy the joys of open air motoring!

However, before this famous (infamous?) car could ever reach the Show Stand, it was spirited away in the dark of night by CIA uber-undercover black ops specialists, operating on direct orders from the White House (back then, they called it the "Peanut Gallery") because Chevy didn't have a Corvette convertible in those days and the release of this Porsche would have ruined the balance of trade in the auto industry for all time! The President had it shipped directly to a super secret R & D Center deep in the back woods of (insert State of your choice here!), and had the poor Porsche dissected piece by piece to discern its secrets and how Porsche could make a convertible out of old Spam cans, whereas the USA couldn't make one out of 4,000 pounds of fiberglass impregnated garbage!

The story then takes an odd twist, with some reporting that Wood Elves in a far, far away land came and gathered up the poor 924/944/968/??? and quietly spent the next thirty years restoring it to it's former glory. Others say that a chop shop in San Berdo actually stole the remains and when they found out the parts were worthless, sold the whole mess to the Japs for scrap metal, but the Porsche magically reassembled itself on the ship to Japan (Black Forest elves again!) and when the ship docked, the scrap buyers found a perfect, but rather odd little car sitting on top of the pile!

This car was then promptly resold to famous collectors in Iran, Tehran, Afganistan, Uzbeckistan, and Timbuktu, and eventually wound up in a private museum in NYC, owned by someone with the initials "J.S." Go figure!

And now, for all to behold, it has surfaced again, in almost, practically, close to, nearly, generally, and most probably Concours Condition, with 23.5 original and total miles, to be auctioned off at either the next Barrett-Jackson Hoopla, or maybe put on display at the next Porsche Parade in Portland (has a nice ring to it!), for all of the Porscheophiles to drool over and speculate as to it's ever growing Intrinsic Value ...

Been driving it around now. Runs really good. Raised the back up a couple of clicks, fixed some little things here and there. Still much to do, I know I will sell the car, but sure cool to have it pass through my garage. It's been fun to work on. Sure runs good. I am thinking of asking $500 for it? Another shot, sat in stop and go traffic even, it did really well. It seems to have a lot of torque tube noise, but 924's have that problem from the factory. This one just seems to be louder than it should be. Still runs and drives out smooth.

Actually, I have heard it's an actual kit offered sometime in the 80's and only installed on a couple of 924's and even fewer 944's. There is suppose to be another one of these floating around in Ausie country in two-tone paint scheme.
