The sign said it's a '74 for $999.99 and it "runs great" so the sign says (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Anyone local recognize it?

Maybe a dancer should swing by and borrow the car the weekend of RRC, that way her mechanic could check out the car and advise her on whether to purchase or not (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) ......................

I've been thinking this morning... most women are a little more concerned about "performance" than the men are led to (or want to) believe.

That being said, I'm concerned that the 4 may not be enough for you. Sure, sure... they all work and you can get by with 4 but will it make you happy? Jake seems to be the only person out there openly promoting 4's. He's even been so bold as to announce that his 4 is "Massive". Hey, hats off to the guy... I'm not sure if the ladies would agree but, it seems he's comfortable with what he has and, that's a good thing.

On the other hand, it seems like 6 is the average for performance. Even here though, some boast about having a "Big-6" (I don't know how that works but... I'd imagine the pistons are "wider"). You may be happier with a 6 or even a Big-6.

Now... a few of the lucky gents around here have 8's and from what I understand, they really perform (the good Dr. Porsche had a flat 8. I have an old straight 8 but it doesn't fit very well in teeners). There may be a weight disadvantage and others would argue that a Big-6 might perform as well or better but, I think at that point, it's all in the driver. If you find a good driver that knows how to perform with 6 he might very well give an 8 guy a run for his money...

Hook up with a good driver with an 8 and that's a whole new story!

Just thought I'd share that with you before you made any long term decisions. We want you to be happy with your purchase.

P.S. There are some guys out there with 10's and 12's but they generally don't "hang" around this crowd.

Buy it unless it's just a pile of rust. $1k seems like a good deal for a running/driving 914.

I agree, if I had the money I would be all over it. Too many expenses right now to even consider it. Isn't that how it always is?

My wife says she's always been pleased with my 4. it's not as long as a 6, but she says it's plenty strong, bigger displacement than most 4's.
The car looks like a good deal, get it checked out first.
I say you buy!
