what a joke ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

here's the whole story:

PCA in zone 7 assigns numbers for 3 different event types, Zone AX, Local (GGR) AX and Zone Time Trial.

PCA maintains a online list of used (unavailable) car numbers and the person that number is assigned to.

when i got my PCA membership in 2004 i applied for the #172 for all three event types as that number was not listed in their online list.

i got *approved* for all three event types and was assured my number was unique and would stay that way.

several weeks went by and i had already attended a few events using my new number and i noticed that my name and number was not listed in their online list.
so i contacted PCA and they assured me that they had me on file and that the online list was not up to date and not to worry about it.

i took that assurance and went ahead and got myself some nice big number-stickers (thanks sean!). although those are theoretically removeable, they would most certainly take off the paint with them.
that's why i hesitated to put them on the car until i had double checked with PCA.

1.5 years fast forward, browsing through the PCA online list of car numbers i find that someone else is now listed with #172! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif)

so, i email the guy in charge of the numbers and he tells me that he's new to the job and that he never got a "offline" list when he started, so he went with what was online. (remember, they told me that list was "out of date" two years ago!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

so now he tells me that i'm basically fucked (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sheeplove.gif) ...

gotta find myself a new number, rip off the paint from my doors, get a new set of number stickers made, respray the doors and put on new stickers ...

what a clusterfuck!
