Hey Gang and Subi Guru's,

I am thinking about doing a Subaru motor with a Subaru automatic transmission.

Has anyone done this yet?

What will the biggest challenges be?

I am just wanting a reliable daily driver, don't need any extra hp, so I am thinking of the Forester motor?
The reason for the auto is that I require hand controls to drive.

Thank you in advance for all your help!
I love this site!

Cheers,
Scott aka Wheels

Probably not a big issue, but just in case...

The auto tranny is controlled by computer, so this would mean you have to stick with the ECU from Subaru. So no MegaSquirt, SDS, etc., unless you run them in addition to the stock ECU. But a lot of people (most ?) do just grab the ECU and harness from a Subie. And since you actually have the AT, there would be fewer sensors to fake. Also, I believe (somebody correct me !) that the ECU is specific to the tranny - you can't use one from a car with a manual tranny. If you're able to get all your parts - engine, tranny, sensors, harness, ECU - from the same car, the job will be a lot easier.
