I got pulled over not to long ago in my honda coming home from work late at night. Since then I have just avoided driving on the main street.

Well I am feeling a bit under the weather so I needed to stop off to get nyquil. So what happens??? Well duh I got pulled over again.

What was my crime. Suspision of a stolen car is kinda what I gather. More like they just felt like it. Once I proved I was legit they let me go.

But this is bullshit. I have to drive around my own neighborhood like a goddam criminal trying to avoid the cops. I haven't been pulled over since my teens and now I have been pulled over 3 times in 6 months. Only thing that's change is my address.

Rant over.
At least they never give me tickets but it's get real tiring being pulled over because they feel like it.

I don't understand... they couldn't give you a reason for pulling you over?

I'd write a letter to they mayor's office. That's :bs:

Don't be paranoid. Most cops are great.

Thank your stars.

i agree. when i drove around in the 914 i was never pulled over. Even when my head lights didnt work. All the cop did as he drove past me was flash his highbeams to notify me to turn on my headlights. But when i drove our 88' Toyota Camry, i got pulled over for having mis-aimed headlights and it just happens that one of them was aimed higher than the other and it slightly blinded the cop for a slight sec. I think cops are quite prejudice toward japanese imports. My friends would tell me how often they got pulled over in their Civics, especially for not having a front license plate or for having too low of a suspension. For the two+years i drove my 914 i never had a front plate and never got pulled over. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/busted_cop.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fighting19.gif)

Nate, you should be counting your lucky stars you still have your license. Hearing you talk about excessive speed the way you do lead me to believe your license is living on borrowed time.

I love driving fast too but if a cop catches you going 100+ just once you will likely find yourself in a world of hurt...

Then again, cops have bad days too...

Last time I got pulled over (in Albany NY at about 1:30 am), the cop told me that if it is late enough in the night, chances are about 1 in 3 that the car a cop pulls over is up to no good. He looked at me and I looked at him and said something like "thats probably true". He asked me where I was going and told me to drive carefully. The message I took home was that after about 1:00 am, suspision is already against you, so you better be behavin".

If you feel that you are truly being harrassed then visit the police dept. and talk to the one in charge about it and that you are keeping a log book of it and will file a complaint if it continues. That's what my first roommate finally ended up doing to keep the cops off his ass. It worked.

Last year, on my way to the RRC in Moab, I was pulled over twice in a stretch of about 10 miles for having a tail-light out. At the time the title to my car was still in the name of someone whose handwriting I couldn't decipher, and I had no idea how to contact him. So I had the car insured, but not registered - I had plates from an old truck I used to own. One of the cops explained that I could get thrown in jail for that. Oops, my bad. Anyway, both just let me off with a warning.

To be honest, I think the thing cops are looking for is DUI. Especially at night, they can pull you over for the tiniest thing, smell your breath, look in your eyes, and Bam - more bucks in the coffers. The BAC limits are getting so low (I think it's going down to .05 in CO) that anybody on the road in the evening is a decent prospect - all they need is a pretext. I had a very close call of this nature, and man am I paranoid now. One beer and I feel like "the fugitive". I'm the kind of person who usually respects the law and police officers, and I've got no sympathy for drunk drivers, but given my experiences of the DUI hysteria that's going on, I'm really getting pretty disillusioned. It sucks.

Is your Civic a newer Civic? Big fart can, loud exhaust? I never have issues with my car. Cops don't even take notice. No big wings and huge fart cans out the back. You can hardly see my exhaust.

I have to agree with that. I have been pulled over by some of the coolest cops in the past few years. Each time I was in the wrong (moderate speeding) and admitted it and each time they spent some time talking with me and then let me off with a verbal warning.

When I was 20, I got pulled over near my girlfriends house at around 11:30 PM. I had just dropped my girlfriend off and was heading home. The kid a few doors down, was having one of those huge high school blow-out type parties with 300 people there, tons of beer, etc...

So the cop pulls me over, walks up to the car and I have all my paperwork in hand. The cop shines that damn 5 trillion candle power light in my eyes so I can't see shiat. In a really deep voice, the cop asks me if I was at that party. I replied "no maam." It was a female NJ State Trooper trying to trick me into thinking she was a guy!! I guess that if I had called her sir, that might have given her cause to search the car. There was nothing in the car and I wasn't drinking, so it wasn't an issue. I have always thought it was funny that she tried that. It's the only explanation I have.

Wow. Ballsy...

In my experience the only things you should say durring a traffic stop are "Yes sir" and "No sir". Being a smartass is a surefire way to invite more trouble than you want. Speak when spoken to, and answer in the most courteous manner possible. I have a few freinds in the local sherrif's dept, and they -will- remember the smartass comments long after you're gone. And they -will- recognise you later on, and if it's a small department, so will their co-workers. I've heard some pretty amusing stories from them, definitely funny from their perspective, but maybe not -quite- as much fun from the other end...

Happened to me in the assdragger. I seriously bummed. I didn't do a thing. I'm f&^$%ing old... I was going to the grocery store to buy milk for my kids. I told the asshole that too.

4 Way Stop.
I stopped.
The other car then stopped.
I went.
The other car then went.
I got pulled over.
I asked why.
"Failure to yield"
"Sorry but, it was a Stop sign"
Yes, you should have yielded to the other vehicle."
"Would you mind explaing that to me?"

and he said...

You stopped.
The other car then stopped.
You went.
The other car then went.
You were supposed to yield...

Run that by me again? You said I stopped, then he stopped and "I" was supposed to yield?

"Ahhhh those plates aren't registered to your car..."

At that point I knew he was just making shit up and it turns out I needed him to visualize a VIN for an out of state title transfer so I made him come to my house and sign some papers. He did (had to, it's his job) and he started complementing my on my restorations... "Keep up the good work" (Shut the fuch up assmunch...stop pulling people over because they're driving a P-O-R-S-C-H-E!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
