I purchased a fuel filter fo my 1.8. It's had the pump relocation done and still has the original hoses and filter on it. <yikes> Problem is this, the filter flow appears to be ass-backwards. i.e. the car flows tank->large hose->filter->pump. This filters shows flow the other way.
Filter: Purolator 23175 A. Is my system plumbed correctly B. Is this the correct filter C. Is the a filter that you recommend? D. Or have just been breathing to much fuel (entirely plausible!)? |

You dont't state what year you have but I would assume it's pre 75 since you said it has the relocation. I would think you would need to get a 75 or 76 filter not sure if they are different from a pre 75.

So I don't know what the filter looks like, but it has an inlet and an outlet. Maybe it has a directional flow arrow. I don't see the problem ..... plumb it with the flow in the correct direction in a location prior to the pump suction.
