(IMG:style_emoticons/default/dead horse.gif) How can you tell the difference between 1.7 heads, 1.8 heads ?.I know that the 2.0 heads have the 3 stud pattern. I have a couple sets and am a little confused. Many thanks ahead of time to all replies.

The 1.7L has smaller valves (39mm intake and 33mm ex) and also has smaller "register" diameter (it will accept a smaller cylinder diameter than the 1.8L). the 1.8l has 41mm intake and 34mm ex. Hope this helps.

Check out this web site. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The biggest clue is that 1.7/1.8/Bus2.0 heads have four intake manifold studs and 914 2.0 heads have three intake studs. Otherwise you have to compare the combustion chambers. |
