I do mine the same way, on the dyno, and in my cars. On a 914 its near impossible!
The pushrods I have made run zero lash and have .005-7 when at operating temp. |

The definitive answer is, Depends on what the cam is ground to have as valve clearances and when they should be set. Things that affect it are push rods (alloy or steel), cam grind, lifter type (type 1 or 4)
cylinder barrel material. |
