The Cap'n, hisownself, is a 2 tour survivor of IV! Way to go Gouchos! I was in the soccer club in 64 or 65. Soccer wasn't yet an official sport there. Those years are a bit fuzzy, what with the mandatory 7 parties a week on top of a busy class schedule ................ The Cap'n

Nice to hear they beat UCLA. When I went there UCSB was leading UCLA in basketball by 20 at halftime with Don Ford (eventually a laker, the first guy to fill the same role as Rambis later did) and Richard Anderson at forward. They lost the game at the buzzer. UCLA also won their first Volleyball championship my senior year, up unitl that time UCSB had been dominant. So, nice to hear a UCSB team has beaten UCLA again. I also love the fact that UCLA beat the university of spoiled children in football this weekend, makes things more interesting.
We didn't play no stinkin soccer or football when I attended, they were to rough and corporate. We just played good old fashioned break some bones rugby. Had a world wide tournament there in the spring. Toughest team was OMBAC. which stood for Old Mission Beach Athletic Club from San Diego and was made up of a bunch of pro and former pro lineman in football. If they couldn't beat you they would definitley hurt you.

Good job Gauchos.

Randy

I hate to break it to all but UC Berserkeley has the "Old Blues"...the second toughest guys I ever played against...(with the BATS) those guys win the Nat. championship damn near every year...mean and fast. Toughest bunch was the 12th side of the NZ Allblacks...beat us like little girls...REALLY mean and REALLY fast...and they were side #12...weren't even allowed to carry the first sides jocks.....
