Biz,

Welcome to the madness!

Many have had maintenance struggles with the stock FI. I've had Carbs & FI. My latest teener started with stock FI, but was so difficult to get it running properly (mostly due to limited real-time diagnostics without special tools) - that I upgraded the stock system with a more modern FI control unit. This retained most of the stock FI components & replaced the more problamatic ones. It also allowed for more variations in cam choices when rebuilding the engine - as the stock system is very limited.

The only way to convince yourself either way is to drive the car with the carbs for a while - see what you think. If the FI parts are included you can always revert later - perhaps when the engine ready for its next rebuild. This will give you the oportunity to build with certain results in mind.

So go anti-up and ENJOY!

1995 when I got my 76 car, it came with 40 Dells and they ran fine other than I used the car a street car so cold warmups sucked.

I remember driving with Djet in the other cars I have had so I so sourced a complete setup and battled to figure out how to make it work properly. Back then there wasn't any help but I did get it running great finally.

Would I go back, nope as I love the ease of FI compared to carbs plus the cars came with FI and I like the stock look.
