The gas pedal on my 73 goes off to side when pressed vs straight back. I have not had time to look at it. What may be the cause and where should I look?

Broken hinge at the base and/or broken throttle crank on the assembly.

The hinge is rusting out. you will need to replace the pedal.

I did a lowbucks repair on one of my 914's a long time ago by using a hinge from a hardware store & little cutting and bolted it to the OE floor locationa and drilled 2 holes on the pedal to bolt it to the hinge.

pedal from a 964 works perfectly and it is less than $10 brand new from Porsche. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
The mounting holes are spaced slightly differently and require just a bit of adjustment. Otherwise a direct bolt up.
