Hello again,
I was looking to find the original paint for my 1976 914, but when i checked the the tag on the car it said "L 98 B" and when i matched it up with one of the only metallic green on auto atlantas paint chart, the closest i could find was "L 96 B". How would i find the L98B? help please!

EDIT: I just found on a VW colour id. website the paint i was looking for http://www.clubvw.org.au/colour_identification.htm
but if you go down to 1976, it says Viper Green Met. L98B(which sounds correct)
BUT if you look at Viper Green Met. on auto atlanta it says L96B?

are they the same?
i dont want the next paint job to look as bad as the smart guy before me.

James

Heh, the color codes here (click 914 Info at the top) list Viper Green Metallic as L96N. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

You're to modest Mark. Point him instead to the best 914 car color id webpage on the net.

Do you have a good color photo of your car? Post it here. Also need a good photo of the Karmann badge with that color code on it. They have been known to be wrong. There could also exist a new code we are not aware of.

Mark's site is not bad, but it has its errors and omissions. The 914World info page is much better as far as codes go.

This is the best info I have on code L98B, and it is obviously not Viper Green Metallic although it is close. I'll need your VIN and chassis # from the Karmann badge as well.Attached Image

While we are waiting for James to provide proof of the code, how many other guys can supply paint codes for green 1976 models. Perhaps his is not the only one.

What is the VIN? 47629?????
That is pretty late in production. Post the photo of the Karmann tag when you get the opportunity.
Who has Queenie's car now?

Good try. Lighting can be a bit tricky. Try again with the highest resolution if you can. You can email me directly.

any resolution on this? if this is indeed a new paintcode, i'd like to find out what years it was available and add it to the "color codes" page in the "914 Info" section ...

L98B Lime Green Metallic last part of 1976 MY.
I do believe it succeeded L96N Viper Green Metallic
