I picked up my "new to me" 3.0L sc engine last week and this past Saturday started cleaning it up and getting it on the engine stand. I was under the impression from the seller that is was just a stock 3.0 with some Webbers slapped on. The current owner got the car from someone in Las Vegas.
Well, right off the bat I notice the Carbs are 46mm! So I'm thinking sweet, I'll sell these and get some 40's and set it up how Bruce A. says in his book. I take one side off carb and manifold and find that the heads have been ported! Stock SC is 39mm and these have been ported to 44. So the heads have been off at some point. But now I have no idea what's in this motor... Anyone have a borescope with a light? I called the seller and asked for the PO's info and have yet to hear back. Both sixes I have owned have been like this. Seller sells me one thing engine turns out to be something else and no one will give the info for previous owners.. Oh well, |
