Race car went to a local guy, Kelly. He's gonna do SCCA stuff with it this year, and i'm sure i'll talk him into showing up for some local stuff.

Shipper is going to pick it up monday, so I should have it by Thursday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Hey Ferg! At least you're sticking to Red! This is the 1.8 from Evilbay, right?

The seller rebuilds 914's... he has a (supposed) 73 2.0 in pieces that he is also selling as is. I would be interested to know if your Red one is really lo miles, or mostly rebuilt... I know you will be able to tell when you get to take it apart. Something in the pictures made me think it had been extensively "redone". Let us know when you get it!

I still miss my 73.5 911T!!! Have you ever heard how the fellow in Spain is getting on with it?

Actually it's a 2.0, and it's all original, nothing has been touched except one respray. He was selling the "project" 73, another club member got that already.
I won't know until I lay my hands on the car and look for all the tell tale signs if the miles are right or not. But the mechanic who just completed a engine out reseal and service says he would not doubt the miles one bit.

I did talk to the Santiago recently, he's loving the car and it made the trip across the pond without incident.

Great to hear "Ol' Red" made it to Spain safely!

Check the seats in the 914... I think they were covered in the auction photos but, a corner of one showed plain grained vinyl...???... No waffle weave?

The blue painter tape is for highway travel, like on the way to Moab...
sort of a temporary bra, don't use it on fresh paint or rattle canned rockers.

Should be the larger, flatter basket-weave. Same material as the door panels and dash face. Carpet looks right though!

Proly some PO just wanted to "update" the interior look to a more Leather like appearance. The original basket weave is sort of dated... and there wasn't much in the way of padding in those seat cushions! I used to drive 9 hours from Ft Wayne, IN to Syracuse, NY, with one pit stop for fuel around Erie, PA, and I thought my a.. died by the time I got to the other end of the trip! Worst part was the section of interstate between Cleveland and the NY Thruway.

Anyhoo, one nice 914 2.0!!!

B. Johnson says late style basket weave for inserts in both '75 and '76. I once had a '75 and it had basket weave too. I think only smooth inserts in US cars was in '71. The seat looks recovered to me.
