I'm adding a stock sway bar as well. Car had the "A" tabs on the arms already. Have everything else. Question is what is the best way to secure the bolts thru the body? Earlier post suggests making a nut plate, I assume that would be welded in. Is that what was on the 914 that was equipt with sway bars from the factory. I have 4 of these cars and none have a stock sway bar that I can use for a visual. Thanks for all the help.
This is a great site for a great car. :beer1: |

Jared,
tell him what he wants to know... dont post hyperlinks to other tech articles. The factory cars had a extra piece of steel installed at the factory. B |

The factory cars had three nuts welded to the inner fender well.
The Weltmeister kit has a nut-plate--a triangle of metal with three nuts welded to it and a hole in the middle for the bar. You can make your own nut-plate (we--mostly B--did for Jenny's car) or buy the WM one. No biggie either way, really. I think the tech article is a good link to post. It answers a whole lot of questions that are closely related to the ones that are being asked. Plus it's a Pelican article... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) And it's a helluva lot easier than re-typing all of that same info all over again. --DD |
