How do you measure the lift of the camshaft. and what is the excepted tolorance between lobes?

Quick & dirty:

With calipers. Measure the longway......top of the lobe to base circle. Short way base to base. Subtract the short from the long & multiply by rocker ratio. That'll get you within .010 or so.

If you have the tools, V-blocks(or center wheels) and a dial indicator (.500 travel) you can get within .001.

Cam lift does not include the rocker ratio. It's measured at the cam itself.

Not sure what the tolerance is, but it oughtta be "very very small" indeed. If you've got a used cam, chances are it's a paperweight.
