Formula V tire treatment, Scientific Data Options

I almost forgot that I wanted to post my scientific data from using Formula V on my Hoosiers. Works good!
I went to Willow Springs with a set of Hoosiers that had 14 heat cycles on them and I had treated twice with Formula V the week before the event. I also had a set of new Hoosiers. I ran the treated set all day Friday and half of Saturday, then I changed to my new set for Saturdays race and Sunday. I was pushing pretty hard all weekend and put 6 more heat cycles on the treated set. They were sticking real well and I was no faster after changing to the new set. I will probably treat the old set again and run them for practice at the next event. Usually a set with 20 heat cycles would be toast, (no offense).
So my scientific data shows that the Formula V treatment seems to have some value. I'll let you know how many cycles I get out of this set before I trash them.

Grassroots Motorsports magazine did a test a few years ago and found the same thing you did. I wonder if it works on bias ply slicks like I use?

$36.99 for a gallon. It took very little to do the two treatments. Don't know how many I'll get out of a gallon but I speculate lots.

New R35 Hoosiers were worth about 1.5 seconds over FormualV treated
slicks at out last AX.....a comparison to other cars/drivers.
I figured the FV treatment brought the oldies back to about 95% or so.
The treatment was good for one two driver AX or maybe a bit more.

Are you saying that treating the tires again won't add some more life to them? I'm going to give it a try. They are at 20 heat cycles now which is right where they would normally become useless. If I get another day or two of practice with them still sticking it will be worth it. I'm going to treat my new set also to see if I get extended life. Hell, if it works I may give it a try on my lizard skin complexion!

Not at all, IMO it does help quite a bit, it's just not as good as new tires and this is specific to R35 compound slicks...it may do better on other types and/or compounds....or maybe worse. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I'm currently treating my R45's in the rear that are cycled out with the Formula V.
On my auto-x outing this weekend, it was too cool (low 70's) to get any heat into them, so it's too soon to call for me. After treatment though, the thumbnail test feels comparable to my new 45's.????

Does anyone here use a pyrometer at all? I would be interested in comparing data. What temps the tire really starts working at. I use Hoosier r35's.

Unfortunately I do not have a tire pyrometer yet, I only have an infrared which I know is not accurate. Hey Mike, are you coming out for the NE Divisionals?
It would be fun to have another teener out there, even if it is faster.........

I will be running the NE Divisional event this year. I'm also going to go to the Pro Solo at Seneca Army Depot. I used to run Pro Solos in the 1980's and it was a hoot. Different that regular Solo with the drag race start. Very intense.

Or before and after... I know they are softer right after treatment while wet, and harden a couple of days later.
