The old paper parts manuals talked of "cheeshead" fasteners for almost everything related to engine tin, as well as other applications (headlight areas, etc). Now, with PET, fasteners are rarely referred to as cheeseheads, and usually referred to as half-rounds and panheads.

What's the diff?

Cheesehead is like a big round of cheese, flat sided, flat top, a basic cylinder.
Panhead is a basic domed head with little or no defined side to it.
Half-round I don't know.

I knew it...I just knew the cheese thing would happen!

However, I don't think the "cheeseheads" of Wisconsin have either slotted or phillips-type cuts in thier heads.

I suspect that "half round" is the contemporary version of cheesehead, but not certain.

Or...should that be cheasehead?
