We had a great East Coast Cookout last Sept. in the west 'burbs of DC. Has anyone heard a word about the next one since the split last winter? I had offered a parking lot by our private lake/ beach, even closer to DC, for this fall, but can't do all the organizing-- although I could do some of it. And I'm a 35-year vegetarian, so the grill (there's a built-in one near the picnic tables at the beach) would be someone else's responsibility. Room for about 30 cars in the lot (more than came last year) with overflow on the grass shoulder, but almost a mile from my house, so would have to be non-electric. (The beach's porta-potty is usually removed for the winter in the fall, but that could be put off until after the event.) Some mechanic-ing would be fine, but would need attentive drop cloth placement. Probably no engine drops (unless maybe my poor 9014, which is still not on the road). So--if anyone in the DC-VA area wants to carry half the load, let me know. I would need to put a reservation in for the beach/parking--the earlier the better. BEST of it is that I have 2 canoes and lots of kayaks, and, if there's a breeze, a Sailfish sail boat. And swimming. Worst of it is that if it rains, we get wet, although I might be able to get a Sat. date, with a Sun. rain date. I do have a side-less awning tent, and possibly Caroline Wilkinson, who hosted last year, could lend her awnings as well. It would probably need to be Sept 15-16, but possibly a week before or after. Oh--and there's a '60s-era Lotus Europa nearby who I might be able to invite as an honorary NARP-car, if y'all approve. So--any thoughts? OR- has someone been working one up in NC, or PA, or W. VA or ....? (This will go up on Club, World and Dorkiphus boards--the latter a regional Porsche drivers group, not 914 exclusively) -Chris Hager

I havent seen Kerry around in a while, I think his life got way busy and he was usually the one to plan the event. I realy liked where we had it last year as it was perfect and fit all of our needs to wrench, eat, drink, and use the bathroom. Maybe we can do it at Roots garage in Sterling, VA, that place rocks as well. We are gonna need someone to take charge.
