Let's not forget the meaning of this holiday!

Heroes, who have/are serving our country to keep us concerned with lowly 914's. Think about the problems of the rest of the world.

My great grandparents came from Austria and Ireland.

The Austrian side came here, became undertakers, prospered all the way through the 1950's & beyond. Became Americans & never spoke German again. Blended into Americana. Hell, they even prospered through the Depression.

The Irish side was similar, except my Grandfather fought in WW1, was mustard gassed & died before I hardly knew him. My father helped deliver the Hiroshima bomb in WW2. I did my little part during the Vietnam Conflict (no, I won't talk about it).

I know we are engaged in a VERY long-term battle with another generation of people who want us dead. I aslo know that I am proud of the people who protect us from these cretins. They are American, Hispanic, Muslem, etc - but they lay their lives on the line EVERY day to keep the crap from our shores. Wish I could help, but I'm an old fart.

Point is, these are Americans, no matter the background, and they are risking their lives, and dying, everyday to keep harm from coming here. I salute these heroes on Memorial Day, even more than those who preceeded them.

Godspeed & come home as soon as possible. But, recognize that we are in the worst fight of our lives! We also have the best guardians ever prdouced. I, literally, grieve for every one who falls, because they are heroes & have fallen for the belief that America is GREAT!

Memorial Day is for the heroes of this country. Just take a minute to think & smile about those who've given the ulimate sacrifice so we can sit here & discuss 914 crap!

Sorry, I get a little teary-eyed about peolpe I grew up with who aren't around to celebrate theis day. Please don't hold it against me.
