I just had a minute to test the tach I had Mark Surel (Marks914) convert for me. I have an MSD AL6 and Blaster coil. The stock tachs don't work with these. During Marks first offering there was some concern over the need to run an expensive tach adapter with this rebuilt unit. After doing some research on the MSD web site and exchanging PM's with Mark I was ready to test this tach. I was concerned about frying it by connecting it to the incorrect signal.
The MSD has a special port for a tach connection. You don't connect it to the coil. The MSD sends out a square wave signal. Mark advised the tach guts he used receives a square wave signal but the company advised it would most likely need a tach adapter. So I just ran a jump wire from the special port on the MSD to the coil connection on the back of the tach and lit up the Alien. BAM! the tach works! No adapter needed! Thanks Mark!
